Going to The Ordinary is always an event for me. Obviously I have the utmost respect for Chef Lata but putting that aside, the space by architect David Thompson leaves me speechless every time. I’m a sucker for natural light and ultra-contrasting finishes so this place gets me. On top of that, my pals in preservation documented this building just before the project commenced, so the adaptive use of the former bank building make me happy. I prefer to sit at the raw bar, smack dab in front of the safe, because it’s just so damn cool. The lobster roll is divine. The chips and pickled shrimp are too. So is everything else. We never show up starving for the sake of our retirement funds, but we’ve never had a bad bite—big or small, at this gorgeous answer for upscale seafood on Upper King. We'll even split a lobster roll before dinner elsewhere.
